Salvation

Since primeval it is widely understood & accepted and believed in Christendom that Salvation is given as a free gift from God as per the Bible.

For by Grace, you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of god, NOT of works, lest anyone should boast - Eph 2:8 -9 - NKJV

Another translation(Living Bible) reads - Because of his kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves, it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it. Eph 2:8-9

This translation is intriguing and we need to ponder on the word " Even trusting is not of yourselves". It begs a question - claiming - isn't faith mine? and we could say because I have trusted in God, I received salvation, Which means the faith which we used it as a means also brought salvation besides God's Free Gift. This is wrong and most people are subconsciously carried away with this understanding.

Faith can't be work because faith operates through the Freewill given to us by HIM and Faith standing on Grace, makes it wholesome for salvation.

Billy Graham once said Faith and Grace co-exist, it cannot be one or the other, and Faith will be Nullified if it doesn’t stand on Grace. If there is no GRACE in this world, then our faith is in vain.

Charles Spurgeon said - it is not great faith, but true faith, that saves; and the salvation lies not in the faith, But in the Christ in whom Faith Trusts

Here, Faith translates to What Jesus did for us and it is invariably True without our faith. Because the Faith Rests on Jesus Christ's promise, this faith applies to whoever believes in HIM will be saved. So both GRACE & FAITH coexist mutually.

It is utterly vain in taking credit for Salvation by ourselves even through our faith. It is simply a pure GIFT of God to mankind to save us from this evil world.

If this truth is truly understood by everyone, then we would invariably show the same kindness (Jesus showed to us) to our fellow brothers & sisters when they fall/fail in their lives/sin. Because you and I are pardoned and found grace in HIS eyes.

Salvation should be often preached in churches, in gatherings, and to one another often, as we would be constantly reminded of this great TRUTH and mystery which goes missing subconsciously from our mind.

Martin Luther said - " the whole being of any Christian is Faith and love.
Faith brings the person to God
Love brings the person to people

How long will it to take to see the end of the world?

Jesus said to one of the thief on the cross,  Assuredly I Say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43

Many scholars have interpreted that if the comma is placed before and after the word "today" then the meaning differs respectively.

In all the translations the comma is placed before the word "today" ( I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise)  which means this day you will be in paradise which is after he dies in the same day he will be with him in paradise. But here a question raises that he was raised from the dead after 3 days which means 3 days is contrary with the word today.

If the comma is placed after the word today  (I say to you "today", you will be with me in paradise) then it refers the future time to be in paradise.

However the truth is, God is not inside the time frame, he is outside the time frame. God will not or cannot fit in the time frame like we live in this world. For HIM past, present & future are same or will be seen as today. Below picture is an illustration to imagine how God in the paradigm will look like.  We can't comprehend the infinite GOD to the finite understanding on this subject to picturize how on earth this could be possible or imagined off in human mind but this is the truth

Albeit you place the comma before or today it gives the same meaning that the thief is with GOD in paradise today.

If you still find it difficult to understand, here is another illustration, when you sleep and wake up, you will remember the last day memories and could recollect all those happened yesterday. Similarly every ones death is like yesterday you slept and waking up before God in judgment day.

2 peter 3: 8 says "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. So when you die the next moment you will be standing before judgment day, perhaps for human understanding thousands of years could have rolled away but for every single individual it will be like a day passed on or perhaps could be a second too.

Man is predestined to Die once and after this the judgment - Next day or a second too.

Christian Psychology

It is indeed true and known factor that every human being is different in virtues. Most often we judge people based on deeds. A short temper person may instantly get angry by seeing injustice or ordinary personal problems, but we may fail to notice the same person good habits on the other hand. What you see may always not be true, which is why Moses had given the law in old testament to testify the truth with 3 witnesses.

It is important for us to know that God has designed us with unique characteristics for each single individual in this world. Does that mean god has given us bad temperaments? Being born with natural temperaments is SIN? We all know that SIN entered through Adam & Eve and we are not held responsible, yet God took that responsibility and died for us. so, what’s in It for me to know here in this article is to understand that using our individual temperaments we need to shine for GOD.

There are four type of temperaments in this world, in which the whole human characteristics is built on which are Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy & Phlegmatic. God has beautifully designed us within these four temperament frameworks, and it was psychologically proved in science as well. Every people will have one temperament as a primary and the other as a secondary.

Below is the table which depicts the instinct virtue of a temperaments, an eye cannot say to Nose that I’m in no need of you and similarly each body parts of human being plays a unique role. So, you can learn from the below temperaments and try to allow god to strengthen your weakness. Holy spirit can transform any person to be a successful person. You may try to fit in or find your temperaments based on the below table and submit unto god for change.

God changed the arrogant, angry Paul to tender. God changed the angry Moses to plead for people Sin. Similarly, each biblical character has their own weakness, yet we need to learn from them how they turned their weakness to strength or overcame their weakness. You can try and search many more biblical characters in the bible based on the above temperaments and for sure you will find some interesting thing to learn. It cannot be written in one article, but by being transformed day by day in reading the bible will yield results and change of nature in life.

God Bless.

How to Know the will of God?

Apparently every Christian will have a question of how to know the will of God and in fact would eager to know it. Everyone who walk with god, will always desire to know his will and to act upon HIS Will, we sometimes would try with human efforts, experiences and the things heard from sermons, churches, books, youtubes etc..

We could draw to a contextual understanding based on the incidents in the bible and with that understanding, we would try to replicate the same or similar to the occurrences in our life to identify the will of  God.

In Judges 6th chapter we read Gideon asked God to know the will of God : “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised— look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.”  And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.

Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.

Here Gideon wanted a clear confirmation from God to know whether it is his will to fight against the enemies, so he tested with a sign and it came to pass, perhaps it could be because of fear.

Outside the will of God,

There is nothing I want

inside the will of God

There is nothing I Fear.  - A.W Towzer

But if you read Romans 12 : 1-2 it depicts a very good view of the will of God, perhaps if we go for a fast reading then chances are there to miss the essence and the deeper understanding. So take a pause and read carefully & slowly and pay attention to the underline below -

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

When you get transformed by the renewing of your mind, you will be able to know the will of God. Here the subject renewal is the key element, it is a continual process of shaping our thoughts, mind & heart by walking and mediating the word of god every day. When we do this regularly, we will be able to test and approve what is his GOOD, PLEASING and PERFECT WILL.

It is not an immediate response or answers to expect from God to know HIS WILL, but Meditate, walk & exercise continually !

Amen !
